Today was about me and my boy.
First we built a huge train track
Twisting and snaking across the room,
Adorned with Duplo tunnels,
Splendid and grand.
After that we drew and drew.
Anything he liked -
Pirates, princesses, elephants,
Using every colour in the box.
Later we skipped, hand in hand, to the park.
He climbed, swung, slid,
I chased after him.
We raced down the hill, laughing and hid amongst the knotted trees.
When we got home,
Cosy and warm,
We snuggled together on the sofa,
Sharing books and chatting about our day.
After I tucked him into bed,
Sang a lullaby and stroked his hair,
I turned out the light.
"Mummy," he whispered. "I love daddy more than you."
Ouch.
